Extra parts

Halfway done mixing and it's needing something in the chorus. That moment is the worst. Do you try to take what you have and shuffle it around, in the process destroying everything that you just fit together? Or do you just add in a P-Bone and flush out the chorus. I can't believe how they sound. I have added a part into a track that I am working on right now and the tone is perfect. It sounds just like a trombone, possibly a slight bit warmer, and fits perfectly into the mix. And because they are plastic they are cheap!

Busy Busy Busy

From Indian classical music, to beer stained bar cables, to mixing the first track for keith, this has been a busy week. And there are still 2 more sessions this week. Thats what I call fun! Can't wait for a day off though.

Cello... Check.

Just finished up the comps on the cello part and onto the final banjo parts, violin parts and vocal then its my favourite time of year. mix downs.

Productivity in 8 hours

Got to love a highly productive day in the studio. Recorded and comped four song and did some quick mixes to listen to, then tracked bass on another two tracks. All you need is a work space with everything at your fingertips and some talent to record. Things were going so well that even a mis patched mic lead to some great takes of harmonica tracks through a "room" mic. Now hope the next two sessions go as smooth as this past one. Wednesday editing sessions and a cello session on Thursday. So many string sessions lately I am loving it.

Upright Bass

It's been a little while since I have tracked an upright bass. But oh man am I looking forward to it. That sweet sweet full lush tone. I just need to find that sweet spot in my room, hit record and let it the tape run. Can't wait to get to mixing. I have done some pre mixes and they are sounding great. Demos soon I hope!
